Florence Hallock Junior High School
On April 22nd, Kathyrn Bruinsma and Russell Auger organized an Aboriginal Awareness Teaching at The Lady Flower's Yurt for 70 Grade 7 students from Florence Hallock Junior High School.
On May 13th Russell was invited to their school to hear the students thoughts and see their pictures and poems about their First Nations Studies.
The children had many questions for Russell, especially about his residential school experiences. I (Kelly Mills) was invited to their gathering on the 13th and I witnessed something I have never seen before.
These children and their teachers are very special and they have developed a beautiful bond with Russell.
Russell was very honest, kind and frank about some unbelievable life experiences when he was just a child.
The things that Russell has gone through have killed many other 1st Nations people.
Our organization is blessed to have Russell alive and well and helping us heal.
Below is a sample of the children's contributions on May 13th
